According to the Garden City, MI Fire Chief, Catherine Harman, there were not major fires in the past week but the Fire Department did respond to a small clothes dryer fire. There are a number of ways to prevent dryer fires including having the inside the dryer and the dryer duct cleaned periodically, using rigid metal duct instead of plastic or foil duct material, and keeping the lint screen clean.
